Description: Does every complaint in your HR department get investigated? Is not getting along with co-workers described as bullying in your organization? Are you challenged to put rules in place to prevent anyone from being offended? Is this even possible? In the name of emotional well-being, people are increasingly demanding protection from words and ideas they don’t like, and seeking punishment of those who give even accidental offense.

This webinar will reference the work of Haidt and Lukianoff, authors of The Coddling of the American Mind, who provide narratives on the concepts of safetyism, fragility, emotional reasoning and the belief of us v. them mentality. Safetyism is the idea that people are weak and should be protected, rather than exposed, to challenges. This webinar addresses the trend of safetyism and its impact in the workplace. As emotional reasoning becomes accepted as evidence, HR leaders must learn to increase workforce resiliency and overcome the expanding concepts of harm.

Objectives:
1. Understand safetyism and the shift from physical safety to psychological safety.
2. Measure the impact of emotional reasoning being accepted as evidence of harm in the workplace.
3. Identify strategies to increase the resiliency of your workforce.
