Webinar: Leveraging Physician Coaching to Improve Physician Performance, Patient Safety, Patient Out

When:  Dec 14, 2021 from 01:00:00 PM to 02:00:00 PM (ET)
Research in adult learning theory shows surgical coaching can lead to longer-term, sustained quality improvement and goal attainment. As in many other professions such as athletics, music, teaching, and business, we see coaching techniques readily utilized as a tool for learning, performance improvement, and goal setting. More often, our existing models of surgical education involve didactic lectures, short practical courses, and self-study. For various reasons, surgeons have been reluctant to adopt the newer paradigm that we are never done learning, and everyone needs a coach. Coaching emphasizes learning and performance improvement of the surgeon’s existing skills and the surgeon’s power to make incremental changes to their practice. This webinar will demonstrate coaching techniques, provide examples of how it can be used in colleague and patient interactions for increased success, and discuss how to start.
